Do Our Questions Seek Truth or Avoid It?
Welcome to Day 294 of our journey with Jesus. Today, we consider what Jesus calls us to question in our beliefs or lives. The main truth for today is this: Questions about Jesus can become a way to avoid the truth if we refuse to consider evidence honestly. Let’s begin.

After seeing Jesus identify Himself within God’s rejected yet victorious purpose, today we confront the supposed neutrality of endless questioning.
Questions can be sincere, necessary, and courageous. Jesus Himself asks questions. The problem in this encounter is not inquiry but the refusal to answer honestly when the evidence threatens a preferred position.
They Calculate Instead of Answering.
The leaders ask about authority, yet when Jesus asks about John, they discuss what each possible answer will cost them. Their concern is not simply what is true.
I Do Not Know Can Become a Shelter.
Sometimes uncertainty is genuine. Here, Mark shows leaders choosing “We do not know” because a truthful answer would expose them. Agnosticism can become strategic when certainty feels inconvenient.
Understanding Does Not Guarantee Submission.
After the parable, they know Jesus has spoken against them. Increased clarity produces greater opposition rather than repentance.
Questions Have a Direction.
Serious investigation should remain open to being changed by what it discovers. Jesus confronts the use of questions as an endless defense against the authority one is supposedly examining.
Tomorrow, move from investigation to an honest response to the rejected cornerstone.
Consider this.
Which assumption does Jesus confront in you?
Examine your assumptions
Examine whether your questions are still seeking truth or have become a way to avoid a conclusion.
